If your reading this then by now you will know we've taken up home in the old post office in New Earswick. We've had an amazing first few weeks of being open and we hope you are enjoying our little shop.
If you've not yet had a chance to meet us yet then hello, we are Fodder and Forage you, new local greengrocer and florist. We offer fresh (local where available) fruit and veg, we aim to be as good to nature as we can and use as little plastic as possible. All our veg is loose although we do provide paper bags! We also offer seasonally grown UK flowers and bouquets
Over the coming months we are going to be slowly adding to the range we sell, if there is anything you would like to see please let us know in the comments below, some suggestions so far are:

Last week saw the launch of our fruit and veg boxes and the first delivery will go out on Tuesday, we hope everyone will enjoy them and order again!
You can order the boxes direct in-store or via our online shop and delivery is free anywhere in the York area. At the moment our veg boxes cover all the staples you will use every week but will be adding a larger range soon!
Thank you again to everyone whos been into the shop and supported us so far, one of the things we love about our community is that people will often stay for a chat whilst they're shopping. A lovely lady last week came in for some lemons and whilst chatting she explained she was making lemon curd, one of our favourite treats! Later that afternoon the lady reappeared not only with the recipe but also with a little jar to sample, and we now share this recipe for you to try and enjoy!
Six Minute Lemon Curd:
75g (3oz) butter
250g (8oz) sugar
finely grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
Here’s how to do it:
Melt the butter in a 1.5lt bowl on high in the microwave for 1.5 minutes
Beat together the sugar, eggs. lemon rind and juice, stir into the butter mixing well
Cook on high (microwave) for 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until the mixture coats the back of a spoon. Stir the mixture briskly until it thickens to keep it smooth.
Pour into small, warmed jars, cover and seal and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks
Will make around 500g (1lb)
